Destinations Worth of Visiting During Rainy Days in Myanmar

Travel within Myanmar in the rainy days is never easy. Flights are fewer and services in the off-season are more lightly staffed. However, that long monsoon season offers empty beaches and cheaper hotel rooms for good reason. For those who can enjoy the rainfall, there is still a great deal of fun to get. These locations make great getaways even during rainy season.

Beaches

Beaches in Myanmar are very beautiful, untouched, and quiet even most of them are not suitable for swimming all year around especially during the monsoon but they are worth to visit in the rainy season for distinct experiences.

1. Ngapali This best Myanmar beach is extremely impressive thanks to charming fishing villages, lovely boats bobbing on the waters as well as the wonderful fresh seafood. It has a host of complex accommodations from small beach huts to luxury villas and bungalows.

During the rainy season, as the transportation is harsh, almost all the good hotels at Ngapali Beach are closed due to continual storms and endless rain. Nevertheless, you can enjoy a lower price at some hotels. But you may spend most of your time in your hotel because of the risk of sudden rain. You may also not be able to swim in the sea due to the high waves.

2. Chaung Thar

If you fancy a beach getaway a bit closer to the city, Chaung Tha lies within easy reach from Yangon, which is 25 miles west of Pathein.

Chaung Thar is highly popular to Burmese middle-class families from the city because it is close to Yangon. It is not fit as a deserted beach, but it is clean, sunny, the easiest beach to reach in Myanmar. However, the prices for hotels and flights will be most expensive during the busiest months of winter.

In the monsoon months of June through August, the weather is comfortable with warm temperatures. The precipitation is high. Thus, lodging and other accommodations may cost slightly less. Chaung Thar has some extremely humid months, with other comfortably humid months and the most humid month is July.

3. Ngwe Saung beach

Ngwe Sung beach is in south of Chaung thar and Ngapali and closer to Yangon. It has 15 km of white sand bordered by tall, lush palm trees swaying in winds. The experience of Ngwe Saung in the rainy days will be not much different from Chaung Tha.

Other places

1. Bagan and Popa

Bagan lies in the middle of the “dry zone” and also a good place to visit during the monsoon. There are still plenty of visitors in season because it rains less in Bagan than in other regions.

Nearby Mount Popa is best known as a pilgrimage site and visitors who go to Bagan can easily take in Mount Popa as well.

2. Hpa-an, Kayin State

Beautiful Hpa-an is the capital of Kayin State and reachable by car from Yangon in about seven hours. Tourists can view Mount Zwegabin, Kawgun Cave, Kyaung Kalap and Sadan Cave.
